Measure J Update - May 15, 2025

Phase One: Arroyo, Beswick and Loma Vista

As previously shared, funding for phase one of our Measure J facility improvement projects in addition to our architects for each project, has been secured.  Phase One schools include Arroyo, Beswick and Loma Vista Elementaries.

Over the last several weeks, stakeholder group members from each campus met with our architects for visioning meetings.  These meetings were an opportunity to review the design approach, focusing on creating an adaptable learning environment with flexible and dynamic spaces that can be easily modified over time, designed for the future and the present.  Each group reviewed input from the staff survey, discussed areas of need across each campus and desired outcomes.

From here, our architects will take the input from these visioning meetings to inform their work as they enter the design stage for each of the three campuses.

Safety Updates

As previously shared, Tustin Unified has invested in supporting student mental health and emergency training for staff for the past several years.  With the implementation of Measure J funding, as well as federal grant funding for school safety, we will be adding the next layers of safety to each of our schools.  This work on each of our campuses includes: live video doorbells at the front entrance, visitor management and screening systems for on campus visitor, installation of live cameras throughout campus, and one-way window films on front entrances.

Live video doorbells have now been installed at all of our middle school campuses, in addition to Orchard Hills, Estock Elementary and Heideman Elementary.  Our remaining elementary campuses will be completed this summer.  With installation of the live video doorbells, one-way window films have also been installed at our middle schools, Orchard Hills, Estock and Heideman.  This work will also be completed at our remaining elementary schools this summer.

We look forward to continuing to share updates regarding the progress of Measure J projects.  We are grateful for the incredible community support that continues to make this work possible.
